PAPER & GLUE

What kind of gummed paper is used to print stamps on?. Well from my inquiries, I have heard that any kind of paper is an option. From plain copy paper brushed with hand made glue to #50 English Finish Hi-White Nu-Dri Gum and everything in between. The options are a matter of  preference and pocketbook.

Purchase Pre-perforated, Dry-gummed Paper and Custom Perforating for Your Artistamps

From Bill Porter HERE

Artistamp Supplies: One of the biggest frustrations many of you find is where to obtain supplies for your stamp making. Many of the companies in the world, and on the Internet, charge a large sum for inferior products. So we have contacted many of the manufacturers who still deal with dry-gummed papers that can be used for artistamp making. We have purchased lots of these papers and tested extensively on both HP Laserjet and Inkjet printers, along with rubber stamping, pen and ink, colored markers, you name it.

The Olathe Poste will now sell, via our web site, dry-gummed stamp stock papers in various finishes (matte, glossy, coated, etc.) and colors. We will also sell these papers pre-perforated, if you desire. Yes, we have an original, 1916 vintage Rosback, round pin-hole perforator just for stamp making.

Dry-gummed papers can be ordered in the following packaging options:

25 sheet packages of one finish or by single color, blank or pre-perforated.

25 sheet packages ?variety packs.? Mix and match colors/finishes (special order only)

100 sheet packages - individual types/finishes or, variety packs.

By the ream (500 sheets). Non-perforated only.

Pricing: After hours of negotiations with these paper manufacturers, including GPA, we have obtained pricing that should prove to be ?at-or-below? the prices you will find anywhere else. Even for the small quantity packages. This has been a problem for us - and you - where before you?d have to buy a ream of paper just to try out. Well, no longer.

And, for those of you who have already bought dry-gummed papers from us in the past, we?re going to treat you right. We will pass along the savings of our new pricing structures to you in the form of a credit. We will notify each and every one of you what your credit amount will be. This only seems fair.

Other new items/services:

Sticker stock - we?ve tried ?em all, it seems like. We?ve found the ones we like that seem to work very well with most inkjet and laser printers. Much better than what you can buy at Office Depot, for example. Much better pricing too. And we?re testing a new (not cheap though) photographic quality crack ?n peel stock too.

Printing artistamps on sticker paper is one thing. Making ?em look like real stamps is another. Hopefully by the end of June we will be able to offer kiss-cut die cutting service. So your artistamps will look like the real, wavy-edged self-adhesive postage stamps of today. This is something I?ve been wanting to do for some time now and we?ve finally found an economical way to do it. If you?re interested in this service, just ask.

We can also perforate most self-adhesive sticker stock with our Rosback. We have developed a couple of different methods to accomplish this feat and have a professional looking stamp be the result. It?s still not as good as the kiss-cut die cutting, but it works and, it?s economical.

Printing services will also be available. We have invested in new technology that will allow us to print artistamp sheets, postcards, and other art-type renderings that, unlike inkjet, will not be ruined if moisture comes in contact with the printed surface and, will be very economical to you. Even in small quantities. Plus, if we can finalize our negotiations with several other paper manufacturers, we should be able to offer these photographic quality items in truly permanent, archival-quality formats. This should prove to be a boon for you when you need museum quality artistamps for special projects.

We still offer our normal artistamp perforating service with our Rosback perforator. As always, we pride our work - and yours - in making artistamps as pretty and professional looking as possible.

While we have many other new and exciting news items at hand also, I don?t wish to bore you by being anymore ?long winded? in this letter than I already have. But as always, we encourage you to ask if you have questions. You can contact us anyway you like, but we always prefer the fun of real correspondence via mail art and the U.S. Mail.

Thank you and happy creating

Bill & Kathy Porter

Stamp Gum

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet (1/4 ounce) of unflavored gelatin
  • 1 Tbs. cold water
  • 3 Tbs. boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp. white corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon or peppermint extract
  • 2 drops boric acid solution
Method:

Sprinkle the gelatin into the cold water and wait until softened. Pour softened gelatin into the boiling water, stirring until dissolved. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
When ready to use brush a little to the area that you would like it and let dry. When you need it to stick, moisten it a bit. If the gum dries up in your storage container, just scoop it out into a saucepan and heat it again.
